Platt Welcomes Veterans for Breakfast
November 9, 2018
Platt Tech was honored today to host our annual Veteran’s Day breakfast. All relatives of students and staff who are veterans are invited to a breakfast catered by our own Culinary Department.
All of Platt Tech was proud to welcome back Mike Brown class of 2004 an army veteran who did a tour in Baghdad in Iraq and Laghman Province in Afghanistan. He is currently employed at American Medical Response in New Haven as a dispatcher.. He was generous enough to come in and say a few inspirational words to our veterans today. He also presented Sandra Heller, pictured above, with a coin he earned while in the military to thank her for being a “lighthouse” to him – a beacon of hope and somebody to lean on over the years. As educators these are the moments that show us that the hard work we do day in and day out does pay off. Seeing Mike come back to honor one of us after his service is a nice reminder for the day that what we do truly makes a difference.
Thank you to Mike and all of the veterans who took time out of their day to allow us to honor them.
