Platt Tech Skills-USA sends 14 to Nationals!

April 3, 2017

It is the biggest celebration of our students and our system; a co-curricular competition designed to identify the best of the best to represent Connecticut at the national competition each year. Let me be clear, this is NOT an “everybody gets a trophy” event. This is grueling, intense and at times, unforgiving. This is SkillsUSA. It emulates real world situations in which students have to think on their feet as they tackle problems that aren’t found in textbooks. Preparing kids for this is preparing them for life, and it’s why we’re all here – it’s what we’re all about.

Last year, Platt hit it out of the park sending 11 students to the nationals!

A new record has been set by our students at our school…14 Platt Tech students will be representing Connecticut at the national level! A full 62% of our entries finished with some sort of hardware (1st -6th place), and what we THOUGHT was an anomaly is apparently a trend!

All the students were G-R-E-A-T! They did the best that they could in a hard fought competition, and just like in life, sometimes you win – sometimes not. But win or lose, they never gave up. We here at Platt Tech are very proud of each and every one of them. They are a testament to all of our teachers adn their excellent guidance. The winners find their own glory, please give a pat on the back to ALL the competitors no matter where they finished because the reality is, just by competing at the states, they’re ALL CHAMPIONS!
